UNITY
The Qin Dynasty united the Warring States to create an empire that was named China. To bring unity to the many states, the Qin government standardized weights, measurements, and money so that it would be easier to trade and collect taxes. (Human Drama, page 249) In addition, a centralized system of writing was created to ensure that regardless of the many dialects spoken across China, everyone would understand the offcial commands. This also made it easier for government officials from different parts of China, to communicate with each other. (http://www.chinahighlights.com/travelguide/china-history/the-qin-dynasty.htm)
Religious Beliefs
Religion was not extremely prominent during The Qin Dynasty. During the start of the dynasty, Buddism was destroyed (http://www.chinahighlights.com/travelguide/china-history/the-qin-dynasty.htm) and most of the beliefs were centered upon the worship of ansecteral spirits and the belief of a heaven (Sima Qian's Letters).
Innovations
One of the major problems during The Qin Dynasty was the flooding of rivers. The flooding of rivers killed civilians and destroyed property and crops. (http://www.chinahighlights.com/chengdu/attraction/dujiangyan-irrigation-project.htm) Therefore, a system was organized in the Min RIver that divided the river into two parts. One was used for boats to travel and for flood control while the other branched off into tiny canals where the water was used for irrigation. Building this river system increased food production and allowed a more efficent path for boats to travel on. (Human Drama, pages 247-248)

Another major issue during The Qin Dynasty was the invasions from the nomadic tribes north of China, To prevent the invaders from entering, Qin Shi Huangdi ordered for smaller walls that were once built by individual states to be connected. Although this is not the wall that is recognized as the Great Wall, it served as a boundary between China and nomadic areas. (HD 250)
